Mardi Gras originated in Mobile, Al and the arts and crafts that it takes to create the entire carnival are highlighted at the Mobile Carnival Museum. The costumes, masks, and floats are all creative designs.
At the Mobile Carnival Museum, you can see videos showcasing the balls. You'll enjoy the elegance of the ladies in gorgeous gowns, the costumes, and watching the masqueraders and ladies dance. You can learn how the floats are made. Many local artists participate in making the floats.
The history of Mobile's Mardi Gras is also explained through photos. If you like crowns, robes, and scepters...if you want to see the elaborate and delicate designs of these royal items, then a trip to the museum or their site is in order.
